KOTG News Minicast #5 - Podcast Awards

Knights of the Guild Podcast has been nominated for a People's Choice Podcast Awards in the Entertainment Category.

There were 1,110,000 people submitting nominations on 2931 podcasts.. here are how the nominees are chosen. There are 44 reviewers, 2 per category who will listen to every podcast nominated. Here is how they rate each podcast.

40% - Number of Nominations
15% - Quality of Website Design
15% - Quality of Sound
10% - Quality of Delivery of Show Content
20% - Relevance of Content

So they grade each podcast on those percentages and the top 10 per category are the ones officially nominated.

It kind of makes me feel good that it's not solely a popularity contest to get nominated, that all the hard work I put in to this podcast, ie sound, website, contest all paid off.

People's Choice Podcast Award

Today they announced the nominations for The People's Choice Podcast Awards. My podcast Knights of the Guild focused on being nominated in two categories People's Choice and Entertainment. They made the announcements live on Ustream and because of our crappy internet I only got bits and pieces. I missed the "Entertainment" category but heard the People's Choice Award nominees and we didn't make it. I was kind of bummed but I knew there are alot of podcasts out there and our chances of getting nominated were slim. So the announcement was over and it was going to take another hour or so before the would have all the nominees up on their website. So I checked back and couldn't believe my eyes. Under the "Entertainment" category the first name was Knights of the Guild.. THAT'S RIGHT my podcast was nominated for a People's Choice Podcast Award. I couldn't believe it.. I was so excited I immediately texted my friends, tweeted and facebooked about it.

KOTG Contest - Helping a Guildie Out!!!

This is one of the simplest contests that Knights of the Guild has ever done. I have a friend Troy who is a guildie and also was an extra in several episodes from season 4, well he is trying to get a blogging job and needs our help.. he needs votes to get him into and stay in the top 20 to move on to the second round. It's really simple you click on the link and click the vote button, you don't need to sign in or sign up.. just click the vote button and what is great you can do it once a day.  http://www.sam-e.com/job/entries/419

What is a CompanionCast?? It’s a behind the scene look at the current episode of The Guild.

I was on set everyday while they shot Season 4. As actors and crew were finished with scenes I would try and speak to them. Get some inside info about the scene they just shot. I also interviewed Felicia Day and Kim Evey about the storyline and Sean Becker about the directing. Podcasts and Plushies

Well I recorded a video for this but unfortunately I'm still having a few issues to work out. So it's a good ol' written blog for this one.

Today was pretty much a Knights of the Guild Podcast day, I spent he morning prepping for it and at 1pm Jenni came by and we recorded for the next 3 1/2 hours. As always it was a lot of fun. This was episode 21 parts 1 & 2 which will be out on Oct. 15th and Oct. 29th respectively.

It's been a few months since I saw Jenni as she's been extremely busy but I was very excited to see her because a few months back I commissioned for something to be made for her and I was finally able to give it to her.

Back in April The Guild released a very cute April Fools Joke called Lil' Guildies. It was the opening sequence of a Muppet Babies type cartoon about The Guild characters as babies. It was AWESOME.



One of the Guild fans (Jes Reaves) created these plushies from the characters and I saw them and fell in love. I commissioned her to make some Lil' Guildie Plushies out of Jenni and my Avatars from our KOTG Logo which she did. She also sent me all of the Guild plushies along with Greg Aronowitz (creator of Lil' Guildies) to give to them which I plan on doing. So far I've given Jenni and Greg theirs and I hope to do the cast in the coming weeks.

Knights of the Guild Contests

Reminder about our ongoing Contests

Every month we have two on going contests

1st Contest - End of month RTing Contest, all you have to do for this one is follow @KnightsofGuild on twitter and RT a tweet from that feed... it's that simple. Prizes vary as do how many prizes are given out. Depending on how many entries we get we normally give out 1 to 5 prizes and those prizes can be an autographed picture of a cast member or some Knights of the Guild merchandise like T-shrits, magnets, buttons and so on.

2nd Contest - End of month Itunes Contest, this is another very simple contest all you need to go is go to Knights of the Guild on itunes (http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/knights-of-the-guild/id304059760) and leave us a review on our page then let us know that you did so. At the end of every month I put all the names who left us a review for that month into a hat and draw out 1 winner for a cool prize, prizes can be an autographed picture of a cast member or some Knights of the Guild merchandise like T-shirts, magnets, buttons and so on. You can leave us as many reviews as you'd like, so you can enter every month. By leaving us a review it helps promote the podcast on itunes.

We have other contests that pop up here and there but these two are every month so it gives you plenty of chance to win some cool Guild / Knights of the Guild Goodies.
